How to Unlock Pro Features

Pro features are unlocked through GitHub Sponsors. Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Become a GitHub Sponsor

To unlock Pro features, you need to sponsor the project creator at the €10/month tier or higher.

1. Visit the GitHub Sponsors page for @estruyf
2. Select a tier of €10/month or higher
3. Complete the sponsorship setup

Step 2: Authenticate with GitHub

After becoming a sponsor, authenticate Demo Time with your GitHub account:

1. Open the Command Palette in VS Code (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P)
2. Run the command: Demo Time: Authenticate with GitHub (Unlock Pro Features)
3. Sign in with your GitHub account when prompted
4. Grant the requested permissions (read:user and read:org)

Note

Your sponsorship status is verified through GitHub’s API. The extension only checks if you’re an active sponsor at the qualifying tier.

Step 3: Start Using Pro Features

Once authenticated and verified as a sponsor, Pro features will be automatically unlocked! You’ll see:

• A confirmation message in VS Code
• New commands available in the Command Palette
• The Analytics Dashboard option in the Demo Time resources panel

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a sponsor to use Demo Time?

No! Demo Time is completely free and open source. All core features for creating and presenting demos are available to everyone. Pro features are optional enhancements for those who want to support the project.

What happens if I stop sponsoring?

If your sponsorship ends, Pro features will be locked again. However, your analytics data is stored locally and won’t be lost—you just won’t be able to record new sessions or access the dashboard until you renew your sponsorship.

Can I use Pro features offline?

The initial authentication requires an internet connection to verify your sponsor status. After that, most Pro features work offline, though periodic online checks may occur.

How is my sponsor status verified?

Demo Time uses GitHub’s official API to verify your sponsorship. Your GitHub access token is used only for verification and is never stored permanently. The extension respects your privacy and only checks the minimum information needed.

Are there team or organizational sponsorships?

Yes! Organizations can sponsor the project, and all members of the organization can benefit from Pro features when they authenticate with their GitHub accounts.
